SkillBuilder Class Overview

We help you learn the skills used in today's fiber optic jobs in Marietta, Georgia, near Atlanta. We offer job-readiness training that may help you start fiber optic positions faster without certification. Our affordable workforce training is available online or in class, on weekdays and weekends for most classes. With the FiberNexxt Way, you'll receive step-by-step, hands-on training in cable prep, splicing, connector termination, and testing in a comfortable, work-like setting. Since this is a non-certification class, you will earn a Certificate of Completion.

Course Fee: $795 in class; $695 online

What You Learn From Our Course

We specialize in helping you learn the skills used in splicing and outside plant location termination. Our training covers:

Basic Cable Prep & Splicing

Practice cable preparation
Review splicing techniques
Perform mechanical and fusion splicing

Basic Connector Termination & Testing

Terminate cables and connectors, including mechanical connectors.
Test cable for insertion loss.
Learn basic troubleshooting strategies.
Practice basic documentation skills.

Class Options

You can attend training in our classroom or online, and we offer dates* that fit most schedules. Select your course from the class schedule and keep it on hand to complete your registration form. Most online classes start January 2025.

Classroom sessions. These courses meet at our school.

Online class. These live classes meet through a live internet connection on 1st Sundays and 2nd Saturdays and the 2nd week of the month.

Weekdays. This course usually meets on the 4th week of the month.

Weekends. This class meets on 3rd Sundays and 4th Saturdays.

Taking Our Online Courses

Tools are essential for completing hands-on skills training especially for our online classes. You can purchase our toolkit or purchase tools on your own. Please ask for our checklist so that your tool purchases meet class requirements. With our toolkit, you’ll be equipped for your first job on day one. All online students must attend an orientation before the first day of class. This will help you become familiar with our video conferencing tools and confirm you have all required equipment for the class.

Registration and Discounts

The last registration day is usually noon, Monday, before the first class day. All course fees include a non-refundable $395 deposit, which holds your seat. Discounts are available if you sign up early, as shown below.

Standard Course Fee. $795 In Class; $695 Online

Early Registration Fee. Your fee is $595 ($495 online). You save $200 off our standard fee. Register 2 weeks in advance.

Pathway to Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification

We offer a pathway if you're interested in pursuing an FOA certification. Register for a basic certification class within a year of completing your SkillBuilder class. You only need to complete the theory and the class project/certification exam sessions, which you can complete online or in class. This option cannot be combined with discounts. Call us for details and scheduling.

What to Expect After Completing Our Course

Upon completing our course, you should have the skills to perform entry-level tasks as an in-house fiber technician or independent contractor. Although we cannot guarantee job placement, we will refer you to our partners and former clients for work opportunities. Also, we will consider you for available openings on our projects. Also, you will also have access to our instructor/contractors upon obtaining your first assignment. We're happy to answer questions and provide guidance as much as possible to help you succeed.
