Our SkillBuilder courses are not certified by the Fiber Optic Association® (FOA) or the Electronics Technicians Association® International (ETA). All SkillBuilder students earn a FiberNexxt Certificate of Completion. ​​

Using the FiberNexxt Way™, we build on your basic experience by teaching basic fiber theory and strong hands-on skills training. When you leave us, you are ready to work day one. Some of the skills we teach include ribbon splicing and mid-entry cable prep methods.

Our SkillBuilder Family of Classes

Our program begins with the 3-day course, which provides in-depth instruction in basic skills. Browse what you learn from our trainers in the next section. Classes are available weekdays, weekends, and in-class and online. You can take our training in two ways, including:

  • Individual classes. This option allows you to sign up for training, one class at a time, when it best fits your schedule.

  • Bundled courses. This option lets you take our basic and advanced training in back-to-back sessions. Register for two or three classes, over one week or two weekends. Earn 2 to 3 FiberNexxt Certificates. See our SkillBuilder Class Bundles below.

What You Learn in Our Advanced Splicing Class

Our class builds on the skills learned in our SkillBuilder basic course. You learn to:

  • Prepare and splice cables using mid-entry techniques

  • Learn ribbon splicing methods

  • Turn single fibers into 12-count or higher ribbon cables

  • Change ribbon cables into single fibers

  • Install and terminate splitters.

  • Handle a range of enclosures (pedestals, domes, cabinets, and wall/rack mounts).

  • Install a fiber-optic network in the class.

What to Expect After Completing Our Course

​​You are ready to work on a fiber job day one! Although we cannot guarantee job placement, we will refer you to our partners and former clients for work opportunities. We will also consider you for any available openings on our projects. You will also have access to our instructors/contractors upon obtaining your first assignment. We're happy to answer questions and provide guidance to help you succeed.

We build on your basic knowldge and skills. As such, SkillBuilder Basic Splicing & Testing training is a prerequisite for this advanced class or submit proof of basic fiber skills training for approval. Here is our latest registration information:​

  • Standard Classroom Fee. $895​. We provide access to all needed materials, tools and equipment.

  • Standard Online Fee: The online option is unavailable for this course.

  • SkillBuilder Class Bundles. Combine our 3-Day SkillBuilder with one or both Advanced SkillBuilder courses and save $300 off each advanced course. Upon completion, you earn FiberNexxt Certificates for the courses you take. You must buy all classes and tools, if applicable for your bundle and the discount will apply automatically at checkout. The bundle special cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions.

    • 5-Day Skillbuilder Bundle (3 classes). SkillBuilder Basic + Both Advanced Skillbuilders. Classroom fee: $2385. 

    • 4-Day SkillBuilder Bundle (2 classes). SkillBuilder Basic + 1 Advanced SkillBuilder. Classroom fee: $1790. Online fee: $1390 + $2500 Tech Toolkit + OTDR Tool, total online cost: $4290. The 4-day online bundle fee applies only to the SkillBuilder Advanced Testing course. SkillBuilder Advanced Splicing does not have an online option.

    • Early Bird SkillBuilder Bundle Bonus. Register your bundle 30 days in advance (4 weeks) and save $300 off the standard fee and $300 off each advanced course. The discount will apply automatically at checkout.
