Our SkillBuilder courses are not certified by the Fiber Optic Association® (FOA) or the Electronics Technicians Association® International (ETA). All SkillBuilder students earn a FiberNexxt Certificate of Completion.
With the FiberNexxt Way™, we walk you through key skills step by step. Our qualified instructors, who are active fiber contractors, teach you to operate equipment and tools in a comfortable, work-like setting. We provide all the needed equipment and materials for in-class students. Live online training is scheduled by appointment, and students must purchase their own tools for lab exercises. Our SkillBuilder Family of Classes
Our program begins with the 3-day course, which provides in-depth instruction in basic skills. Browse what you learn from our trainers in the next section. Classes are available weekdays, weekends, and in-class and online. Online classes are scheduled by appointment. You can take our training in two ways, including:

Individual classes. This option allows you to sign up for training, one class at a time, when it best fits your schedule.

Bundled courses. This option lets you take our basic and advanced training in back-to-back sessions, three classes, in one week or over two weekends.

What You Learn In Our 3-Day Basic Course
We specialize in helping you learn the basic skills used in splicing and inside/outside plant installations. Our training covers:
Basic Cable Prep and Splicing
We show you how to prepare cable, including:

Opening and readying cable for termination.

Learning about a splicer.

Performing fusion splicing.
Basic Connector Termination and Testing
Trainers teach how to work with connectors, including:

Learning connector types

Terminating (connecting) cables to connector hardware, including mechanical connectors.

Testing cable for continuity.

Learning basic troubleshooting strategies.

Practicing basic documentation skills.
How to Install a Live Fiber Network under supervision
Your instructor will oversee your work as you build a fiber network using skills you learned on Days 1 and 2, by:

Prepping cable for an assigned location in the classroom.

Splicing and terminating cable to a simulated communications office (CO), or a pedestal or dome enclosure.

Checking the network for a live signal.
What to Expect After Completing Our Course
Upon completing our course, you're ready to perform entry-level tasks as an in-house technician or independent contractor. Although we cannot guarantee job placement, we will refer you to our partners and former clients for work opportunities. Also, we will consider you for available openings on our projects. You will also have access to our instructors/contractors upon obtaining your first assignment. We're happy to answer questions and provide guidance for your first assignment after graduation and help you succeed.

When you leave us, you are ready to work on a fiber job, day one. The Basic SkillBuilder class is the gateway to our SkillBuilder Advanced courses. You earn our FiberNexxt Certificate of Completion for the following courses:

3-Day SkillBuilder Splicing & Testing, Standard Fee. $1195 in our classroom.

3-Day SkillBuilder Splicing & Testing, Standard Online Fee. $995 + $2500 Tech Toolkit, total online cost $3295. Tools are essential for gaining hands-on experience, and online students are responsible for purchasing their own tools. YStudents can purchase our professional-grade toolkit or purchase equipment on their own. If buying tools independently, please request our checklist to ensure you have all the necessary equipment for the course. Your online cart must have the class and the toolkit. Early Bird Registration. Classroom fee: $895. Online fee: $695 + $2500 Tech Toolkit, total online cost $3195. Sign up for class 30 days (4 weeks) in advance, and save $300 off standard fees.

SkillBuilder Class Bundles. Combine our 3-Day SkillBuilder with one or both Advanced SkillBuilder courses and save $300 off each advanced course. Upon completion, you earn FiberNexxt Certificates for the courses you take. You must buy all classes and tools, if applicable for your bundle and the discount will apply automatically at checkout. Fiber Tools and Equipment
Tools and equipment are essential in learning hands-on skills for our classes. We provide all necessary tools and equipment for in-class students. You leave with practical experience working with the tools used by fiber technicians. Online students must purchase tools on their own. Online trainees graduate with an experience similar to classroom students, plus jobsite-ready tools. Whether a classroom or online grad, you're ready to work fiber jobs day one upon graduation.
