Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Fiber Splicing Certification

This class will be available Fall 2026.

We offer advanced certification courses that can help you reach your career goals. You earn the Certified Fiber Optic Specialist, Splicing (CFOS/S) certification from the Fiber Optic Association (FOA). Using our proven FiberNexxt Way™, trainees receive a combination of theory, practical reviews, and advanced fiber splicing skills training. We help you prepare for the FOA certification exam and expand your splicing skills, such as ribbon-splicing and ribbonizing single fibers. You can also expand your skills with these advanced classes: Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and Advanced Testing Specialist. Visit their pages for more information.

Registration 

Standard Classroom Registration. $895​

Standard Online Registration: Online option is unavailable for this course.

Prerequisites: The FOA requires CFOT certification (4-Day CFOT or 1-Day CFOT) before attending this class.

​Schedule: Classes are scheduled by request, typically the first two weeks of each month. Please provide three (3) dates, in order of

                  preference, for your class. We will review your request and contact you to confirm your class date.

What You Learn

Our class builds on the skills learned in our CFOT courses. You gain advanced techniques for managing fiber cables and connectors. Skills include:

  • Advanced cable theory

  • Mid-entry cable splicing

  • Ribbon splicing

  • Making single fibers into 12 count (ct) or higher ribbon cables

What to Expect After Completing Our Course

Upon completing our course, you should receive:

​

  • FOA CFOS/S certification upon passing the course exam

  • in-demand skills to perform basic to moderate splicing tasks as an in-house fiber technician or independent contractor

Although we cannot guarantee job placement, we will refer you to our partners and former clients for work opportunities. We will also consider you for any available openings on our projects. You will also have access to our instructors/contractors upon obtaining your first assignment. We're happy to answer questions and provide guidance as much as possible to help you succeed.

Fiber Tools and Equipment

Tools and equipment are essential in learning hands-on skills for our classes. We provide all necessary tools and equipment for in classroom students. Below is an example of the tools you will use in class.

  • A - Fiber Tech Handtool Set

  • ​B - AI-9 Vevor Splicer with a cleaver, optical power meter, visual fault locator, & splicing tools

  • C - Sample Practice Enclosure (may vary from class to class)

  • D - Komshine Power Testing Kit: Light source, power meter, visual fault locator (VFL), and testing cables
