Electronics Technician Assn. (ETA) Fiber Training

Our instructors now offer the ETA FOI course, a 5-day fiber certification program, in Marietta, Georgia, near Atlanta. At our fiber school, trainees learn the FiberNexxt Way™, our method of combining theory with practical skills training and exam prep, in a comfortable setting. We offer:

What You Need for Our Course

We have minimal requirements, and course features include:​

  • No experience is needed!

  • If you're a classroom student, we provide all the tools and equipment.

  • If you're an online student, purchase our toolkit or buy tools yourself. See the online toolkit section below. Ask about our checklist to ensure your tool purchases meet class requirements. 

What You Learn From Our Course

We specialize in helping you learn the skills used in splicing inside and outside plant location terminations. Our training covers:

Basic Fiber Optic Theory

Get an overview of how fiber optic work, including:

  • Fiber standards

  • Fiber system components and hardware

  • Fiber terminology

Basic Cable Preparation & Splicing

You'll learn valuable methods, including:

  • Practice cable preparation

  • Review splicing techniques

  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing

Basic Connector Identification & Termination

Get a review of these techniques, such as:

  • Terminate cables and connectors, including mechanical connectors.

  • Test cable for insertion loss.

  • Learn basic troubleshooting strategies.

  • ​Practice basic documentation skills.

Basic Testing Methods

Understand basic testing procedures, such as:

  • Using a light source and power meter.

  • Operating an OTDR

  • Learning power testing methods

Install a Basic Fiber Network In-Class

Connect a small network using your skills to:

  • Prep, splice, and terminate a simulated location.

  • Conduct 1-cable and 2-cable reference tests.

  • Perform plant insertion loss testing.

  • Complete documentation.

ETA Certification Exam Preparation

Throughout your training we prepare you using methods such as: 

  • Theory and skills reinforcement through quizzes, session reinforcement, and games.

Registration, Class Options, and Discounts

The last registration day is usually noon, Monday before the first class day. All course fees* include a non-refundable $395 deposit, which holds your seat. Visit our registration page to sign up or call (678) 515-0115. Receive a discount with early registration, 4 weeks in advance. Please call us for details on arranging the One-Day-at-a-Time or One-on-One Training classes.

  • Standard Course Fee. $1895 in class (online class available in 2026)

  • Early Registration. Fee. $1695, a savings of $200 off standard fees. Register 4 weeks in advance.

  • One-Day-at-a-Time. $495 per day, in class, $425 per day online. Take up to five months to complete the course. Discounts do not apply to this option.

  • One-on-One Training by Appointment. You may train individually with our ETA-certified instructors. Discounts do not apply to this option.

What to Expect After Completing Our Course

Upon completing our course, you should have the following:

  • ETA FOI certification

  • Skills to perform entry-level tasks as an in-house fiber technician or independent contractor

  • Continuing education credits to maintain ETA certifications

 

Although we cannot guarantee job placement, we will refer you to our partners and former clients for work opportunities. Also, we will consider you for available openings on our projects. You will also have access to our instructor-contractors upon obtaining your first assignment. We're happy to answer questions and provide guidance as much as possible to help you succeed.

Class Schedule and Registration Deadlines

One-to-one and one-class-at-a-time options need to be scheduled with a staff member. Online students are encouraged to register as early as possible.
