Our FOA Certification Gives You Industry-Recognized Credentials

Our company offers the Fiber Optic Association (FOA), 4-Day Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) training, in Marietta, Georgia, near Atlanta. We offer CFOT certification online and in person, on weekdays and weekends. You learn in a comfortable, work-like setting. With our 99.5% pass rate, most students complete our program. You are job-ready, day one after graduation. Trainees learn the FiberNexxt Way™, and get the following benefits:

Registration (register for our FOA 4-Day CFOT here)

  • Standard Course Fee. $1495 in our classroom

  • Early Registration Discount. $1195 classroom, when you sign up four weeks in advance ($300 savings off the standard fee), which applies automatically at registration. This discount is unavailable for the online option.

  • Pay-As-You-Go. $695 per session in our classroom or $495 per day online. Manage your budget by taking one session at a time and taking up to four months to complete your training. Upon receipt of payment, we will schedule you for the next class.

  • One-on-One Training. $1695 classroom ($1495 online + $2500 Tech Tool Set, total $3995). Train solo with an instructor.

  • Standard Online Fee: $995 course + $2500 Tech Tool Set, total fee, $3495. We schedule this CFOT certification online option by request. Online students are responsible for purchasing the tools needed for course lab exercises. You can buy our tool set or equipment on your own. Call for us for details.

The last registration day is usually midnight on the Monday before the first day of class. All course fees* include a non-refundable $395 deposit, which holds your seat. We provide study materials, equipment, and exam preparation for in-classroom participants. Online students receive study materials and exam preparation, but are required to purchase our toolkit or buy tools on their own. Visit our Registration page to sign up or call (678) 515-0115.

What You Need for Our Course

We have minimal requirements, and course features include:​

  • No experience is needed!

  • If you're a classroom student, we provide all the tools and equipment.

  • If you're an online student, purchase our toolkit or buy tools yourself. See our fiber tech toolkit below. Ask about our checklist to ensure your tool purchases meet class requirements. 

What You Learn In Our CFOT Course

We specialize in helping you learn the skills used in splicing and outside plant location termination. Our training covers:

Basic Fiber Optic Theory

Get an overview of how fiber optic work, including:

  • Fiber standards

  • Fiber system components and hardware

  • Fiber terminology

Basic Cable Prep & Splicing

You'll learn valuable methods, including:

  • Terminate cables and connectors, including mechanical connectors.

  • Test cable for insertion loss.

  • Learn basic troubleshooting strategies.

  • ​Practice basic documentation skills.

Install a Basic Fiber Network In-Class

Connect a small network using your skills to:

  • Prep and terminate a simulated location.

  • Conduct an insertion lost test.

  • Complete documentation.

FOA CFOT Certification Exam Preparation

Throughout your training receive session reviews, such as: 

  • Theory and skills reinforcement through frequent quizzes.

  • Receive access to and get study tips for using the FOA online CFOT manual for exam preparation and in-class review sessions.

Taking Our FOA CFOT Online Certification

Tools are essential for completing hands-on skills training, especially for our online fiber optic certification courses. You can purchase our toolkit or acquire the tools separately. Please request our tool checklist to ensure your purchases meet class requirements. With our professional-level toolkit, you’ll be equipped for your first job on day one. If you order our toolkit, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. See our toolkit's components below.

All online students must attend an orientation before the first day of class. Orientation will help you become familiar with our video conferencing tools and confirm you have all required equipment for the class, if applicable.

What to Expect After Completing Our Course

Upon completing our course, you should have FOA CFOT certification and the skills to perform entry-level tasks as an in-house fiber technician or independent fiber contractor. Although we cannot guarantee job placement, we will refer you to our partners and former clients for work opportunities. Also, we will consider you for available openings on our projects. You will also have access to our instructors/contractors upon obtaining your first work assignment. We're happy to answer questions and provide guidance as much as possible to help you succeed.

Class Schedule and Registration Deadlines

We have a class that may fit your schedule. Select your course date below and keep it on hand for on your registration form. One-to-one and one-class-at-a-time options need to be scheduled with a staff member. Online students should register as early as possible. Except for November and December, online classes can be scheduled on the first two weeks or first two weekends of each month.
